One of the most famous shopping streets in Dublin is the Great George's Street, the street that hosts and gives name to market George's Street Arcade, a popular place among both city residents and visitors. It is located in the heart of Dublin, just 5 minutes walk from Grafton Street and the famous Temple Bar, so if you are visiting the city will not pass it difficult for him. The visit is recommended even if you have no intention of shopping, as an indivisible part of the history of Dublin, and is open every day of the week.
The market hosts over 50 shops and small stalls, among which we can find almost anything from clothes to antiques, to gifts, hairdressers and even collectibles. A world of choice framed in the oldest commercial gallery in Ireland and Europe. We can also find boutiques, all kinds of music and a good selection of bars and restaurants, in short, everything you need for an unforgettable day of shopping.
The George's Street Arcade is also known to Dubliners as the South City Market, and was the first shopping center of the city, being built in 1881. During the year 1892, a terrible fire reduced to ashes the old building, so I had be rebuilt to the original design, and who were employed for a number of local workers and artisans. The September 13, 1894 was ready for his second inauguration, and since then the structure has undergone some renovations it, but maintains much of its Victorian spirit.
